Nuclear threats between Trump and Iran are on the rise again

US President Donald Trump, warning Tehran against trying to restore its nuclear program, firmly stated that he was ready to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities again. He emphasized, “We destroyed their (Iran’s) nuclear capability. If they start this action again, we will destroy their nuclear facilities even faster than a flick of the finger,” Trump said in an interview given on July 28 in Scotland during a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Earlier, on July 21, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with Fox News that despite US strikes, Tehran has no intention of stopping uranium enrichment. In his opinion, “the damage was serious and severe,” which is why the process was temporarily halted. “But we cannot give up enrichment; it is an achievement of our scientists and now this issue has become a matter of national pride,” he said.

Araghchi also added that any future nuclear agreement should ensure Iran’s right to enrich uranium. “Any new agreement must recognize this process,” he emphasized.

On July 28, the Iranian foreign minister wrote in his statement: “If aggression is repeated, we will give an even tougher and undeniable response.” In this statement, he again repeated the idea that Tehran must continue uranium enrichment. “Everyone should know that we, Iranians, did not buy our peaceful nuclear program — we built it with blood, sweat and tears. The technology and know-how created by our human resources cannot be destroyed by bombing,” he concluded.

The tone of the topic is becoming sharp and serious. Experts are closely watching with great interest how the next events around the relations of the two countries and the nuclear program will develop.
