Life expectancy in Turkey continues to rise. According to the 2022–2024 “Life Tables” report published by the Turkish Statistical Institute, a newborn in Turkey is expected to live an average of 78.1 years.
For women, the average life expectancy is 80.7 years, while for men, it is 75.5 years — meaning women live about 5 years longer on average.
The report also found a strong link between education level and longevity. A 30-year-old with higher education may live around five years longer than someone with lower education.
The average “healthy life expectancy” — years lived in good health — is estimated at 57.6 years. Interestingly, men (58.9 years) score slightly higher than women (56.3 years) in this category.
A 65-year-old person in Turkey is expected to live another 18 years on average.
Health system improvements, better nutrition, physical activity, and increased access to education all contribute positively to these growing numbers.
