In the north of India, in the state of Uttarakhand, a natural disaster has caused significant damage to people's lives and infrastructure, reports 24tv.ua. In the high-mountain village of Dharali, due to heavy rainfall, a flood occurred and several houses were destroyed by the water flow. As a result of the incident, at least four people were reported dead and about 60 people are missing.

According to local residents and eyewitnesses, heavy rain fell in the basin of the Hir Ganga river and caused various calamities in this area. The flood washed away several residential houses and hotels. Dharali resident Rajesh Panwar said that 10–12 people may have been trapped under the debris of the mudflow.

The disaster not only destroyed houses but also around 20–25 hotels and residential buildings. Panic broke out among the villagers — people rushed to find safer places.

In the videos posted online, the mudflow can be seen quickly filling the village streets with mud and debris, sweeping away houses in an instant. Cries of people worried about their relatives and anxious voices can be heard on air.

The natural disaster occurred as a result of heavy rain in the basin of the Kheyer Ganga river, confirmed Uttarkashi district judge Prashant Arya. It is also noted that the village of Dharali is a popular stop for tourists heading to Gangotri — there are many hotels and restaurants open here.

Urgent rescue operations involved Garsil, military units and local authorities. According to the regional army command, the flow passed through the entire village, destroying everything in its path. The Ibex Brigade unit arrived at the scene to organize rescue work and assess the scale of destruction.

State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said he is in constant contact with all agencies and personally monitors the situation. Indian Interior Minister Amit Shah said that seven special rescue groups will soon arrive at the scene and join the rescue operations.

Rescue operations continue in Uttarakhand state — the search for victims and missing persons has not stopped. This natural disaster has become a major test for the entire region — for both local residents and officials.
