Courier work for migrants has also been banned in St. Petersburg

The authorities of St. Petersburg have introduced new restrictive measures in the labor market. According to a decree signed by Governor Alexander Beglov, foreign citizens will no longer be able to work in courier services.

The document emphasizes that the main goal of this decision is effective combating of illegal employment, improving safety and service quality in the courier sector, as well as creating new jobs for the local population.

According to city officials, tightening regulations in the courier sector will not only improve service quality but also create broader employment opportunities for Russian citizens. At the same time, it is noted that this restriction may have a significant impact on the income of migrants.

Employers have been given a three-month period to adapt to the new requirements and revise their personnel policies. During this time, companies will have to take measures to retrain employees or find new staff.

It should be recalled that earlier in St. Petersburg, migrants were also prohibited from working as taxi drivers. Thus, the city is consistently limiting the employment of foreigners in certain service sectors.

Experts believe that while this policy is aimed at supporting the local population, it may reduce job opportunities for migrants and also lead to a shortage of labor in certain industries.
