In the city of Prescot, United Kingdom, 38-year-old Mark Anthony Kirby died as a result of a poisonous spider bite. This was reported by Liverpool Echo. Mark Kirby was also active in his family life: he was the father of an 18-year-old son and a 17-year-old daughter.
According to his former partner and mother of his children, Kaylee Gill, Kirby realized he had been bitten by a spider but did not seek medical help. An autopsy investigation has not yet been able to determine the exact cause of death.
According to the deceased's family, a few days after the bite, the man went on a trip to Scotland with Gill and his sister. During the trip, Kirby felt unwell and tired but continued joking even during dinner at a restaurant.
On July 26, the family returned to Prescot, but in the following week, Mark developed flu-like symptoms: high fever, chills, shivering, and pain in his arms and legs. On August 2, he told his sister Ket that he was having difficulty breathing. Ket called an ambulance, but the doctors who arrived could not save his life.
According to Kaylee Gill, one to two weeks before his death, Kirby purchased several spiders online. The species of the purchased spiders has not yet been reported.
This tragic incident sparked wide discussion in society and on the Internet. Many reacted with surprise and regret, while some emphasized the need to pay attention to the risks in human-animal interactions.
