A tragic incident that occurred in the city of Vijay Nagar, in the state of Virar, India, caused deep grief among the local community and family members. According to PTI agency, the event took place on Wednesday at 12:05 local time.
The four-story residential building, consisting of about 50 apartments and located near the capital, collapsed for various reasons, and the number of victims trapped under the rubble reached at least 15 people. Police officials also emphasized that the building had been vacant for a long time.
According to witnesses, the deceased were mostly attending the birthday celebration of a young girl on the fourth floor of the building. Among them were parents, close relatives, and the child’s friends. Although the event was planned as a happy day, unfortunately, it ended in a tragic outcome.
The chief officer of the Palghar district electoral constituency, Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, officially confirmed on Thursday morning that the number of victims in the incident had reached 15 people. Currently, local authorities and emergency services are investigating the causes of the collapse and providing assistance to the affected family members.
The incident caused deep concern among the public and raised serious questions about safety and residential building monitoring among the local population. Psychologists and emergency specialists are currently working with affected families and witnesses to alleviate their emotional difficulties and prepare them for changes.
