The International Association of Scholars assessed Israel’s actions in Gaza as similar to a policy of destroying the people. According to them, Israel’s attacks fully correspond to the definition of destroying the people set out in the UN convention.
The majority of the association’s members supported this decision. The document stated that the attacks, destruction, and forced displacement of the population in Gaza are signs of destroying the people.
Israel continues to deny such accusations. According to officials, their actions are measures of self-defense. However, the International Court is also considering a case against Israel for pursuing a policy of destroying the people.
“Hamas” welcomed this decision and said it could be used in international courts. The association of scholars had previously recognized some historical events as a policy of destroying the people.
