Tokayev made a firm statement on the need for UN reform

In his speech at the "SCO Plus" summit, Kazakhstan's leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev specifically addressed the future of the UN and its renewal. He emphasized that in the context of today's complex geopolitical reality, the United Nations must be supported as a universal and independent institution.

According to the president, reforming the UN, especially the renewal of the Security Council, which is its main structure, should not go off the agenda.

"We understand how complex this process is, but there is no other way. If the leaders of the current generation relinquish this responsibility, it will sharply weaken the trust of the states of the whole world in the UN," Tokayev said.

At the same time, the Head of Kazakhstan highly appreciated the Global Governance Initiative put forward by the Chairman of China. He emphasized that this program includes long-term vision of the prospects for the development of the international community and will strengthen joint efforts to build a more just and sustainable world order.
