Uzbekistan sends 265 tons of aid to Afghanistan

On September 6, 2025, Uzbekistan sent a total of 265 tons of humanitarian aid. A ceremony of handing over aid was held in the city of Hairatan, located in the Balkh province of Afghanistan. The cargo was formed on the territory of the "Termez Cargo Centre" and delivered to its destination by 14 trucks.

The aid included flour, rice, sugar, toast, pasta and confectionery products, oil, instant meals, red beans and mung beans, packaged drinking water, 5,000 blankets, and more than 10 tons of medicines and medical supplies.

The Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev and the khokim of Surkhandarya region Ulugbek Kasimov took part in the ceremony. They emphasized that this initiative is aimed at strengthening the good-neighborly relations of Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Afghan officials stated that they perceived the aid not as ordinary products, but as a symbol of brotherhood and humanity. They highly appreciated the commitment of the leader and people of Uzbekistan to stand by the Afghan people in such difficult times.

Speaking on behalf of the leadership of the Balkh region, F. Rabi expressed deep gratitude to Uzbekistan. He emphasized that this assistance is an example of true brotherhood and solidarity. He noted that the people and leadership of Afghanistan will never forget this assistance.

At the end of August, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6 occurred in eastern Afghanistan. The natural disaster had a major impact on the provinces of Kunar, Lagmon and Nangahor, destroying many villages. Roads were blocked in mountainous areas, and many residents found themselves in a difficult situation.

Afghanistan's already struggling healthcare system is unable to provide adequate support in this disaster. According to official data, the death toll has reached 2,205, and 3,640 people were injured to varying degrees.
