The Israeli army has ordered the residents of Gaza City to move south. According to them, this area is considered Hamas’s “last main stronghold”. Many buildings were destroyed as a result of airstrikes. Despite this, millions of people remain in the city.
Local residents say they were given only 15 minutes before the strikes. Many families lost their homes and food supplies. They stress that they have neither the money nor the means to go south.
Israel, however, says that there is aid, food and tents in the southern humanitarian zones. New aid centers are reportedly being built near Rafah. But international organisations warn that these areas are already overcrowded and it is impossible to accommodate more people.
Experts believe that the evacuation process in Gaza City will be very difficult. Families of hostages criticize Israel’s plans, saying they put people at risk. Nevertheless, Israel has announced that the operation will continue.
