Sweden has imposed a phone ban on schoolchildren.

Sweden has imposed a phone ban on schoolchildren.

The Swedish government decided to implement serious changes in the education system. Starting from the autumn of 2026, the use of mobile phones by students in all schools across the country will be completely banned. This was reported by the Guardian.

The new procedure will apply to children aged 7 to 16. As a rule, mobile phones are collected from students in each school before classes begin and returned to them only after classes are over. The goal is to make the learning environment more effective and ensure the safety of children.

This decision, adopted in Sweden, is consistent with the practice of a number of European countries. For example, in Denmark, at the beginning of the year, a government commission recommended restricting mobile phones in kindergartens and schools. They believe that children under 13 should not have their own smartphone or tablet.

Norway, however, introduced a strict age limit for using social networks last year. The government banned children under 15 from using social networks and accused technology companies of "negatively affecting the minds of the younger generation."

In January 2024, smartphones were banned in almost all schools in the Netherlands. Further research has shown that this procedure has significantly improved the learning environment. 75% of the survey participants said that it was easier for children to concentrate, while 28% noted a significant improvement in learning outcomes.
