According to the spokesperson of the Israel Defense Forces, more than 550,000 residents have been evacuated from Gaza City.
The statement said:
«So far, more than 550,000 civilians have left the city and moved to the southern areas. At the same time, the 162nd, 98th and 36th divisions completed their entry into Gaza City and began operations against Hamas fortifications inside the city.»
According to the Israeli army, they detected Hamas attempts «to obstruct the movement of civilians to the south» and «to use the civilian population as a human shield for terrorist activity».
The army also announced the establishment of a humanitarian zone in Khan Yunis city.
«The Israel Defense Forces call on Gaza residents to follow official instructions to ensure their safety and to flee from areas designated as dangerous,» the statement concluded.
