China has made another significant achievement in the field of renewable energy - the country has launched the world's largest floating wind turbine.
- Power: 16 megawatts
- Wing area: equal to 7 football fields
- Location: Guangxi-Zhuang Autonomous Region, Beihai City
This massive structure will be tested in water at a depth of 50 meters, after which it will be connected to the national power grid. The turbine generates approximately 44.7 million kWh of energy per year - enough to supply electricity to about 4 thousand households.
All parts of the project, including the turbine reducer and the ballast control system, were manufactured entirely in China. This once again confirms the country's aspiration for technological independence.
The device is equipped with a dynamic ballast system, which regulates the water flow depending on the wind and wave strength. This solution ensures stable operation of the turbine and maintains high efficiency even in harsh maritime conditions.
