Polish swimmer crossed the Baltic Sea in 55 hours

Thirty-one-year-old Polish swimmer Bartłomiej Kubkowski became the first person in history to swim across the Baltic Sea from Sweden to Poland without leaving the water. He covered nearly 160 kilometers in 55 hours, finally reaching his goal on his fifth attempt.

Kubkowski swam for more than two days, battling cold water, strong winds and high waves. Due to the intense physical strain and severe exhaustion, he also experienced hallucinations along the way.

Despite this, the swimmer did not turn back and continued toward the finish. He not only stayed out of the water, but also avoided touching the support boat throughout the journey.

The record swim, part of the Ultra Baltic Swim project, also had a charitable purpose. The event raised nearly €185,000 for Cancer Fighters, a foundation supporting the fight against cancer.
