European intelligence agencies are investigating a former Politico correspondent in Brussels on suspicion of espionage in favor of China.
Report European Bureau, citing Western media, reports that the investigation is still in its preliminary stage, therefore there is very little information on the case.
It is not yet clear whether the journalist's departure is related to the fact that an investigation has been launched into him on suspicion of espionage.
According to the Brussels-based publication Euractiv, they know the identity of the journalist who refused to comment. However, Politico has not yet commented on the situation.
According to reports, counterintelligence officers suspect the reporter of using opportunities to access international organizations and various circles to identify potential targets for recruiting people.
