On May 13, Iranian authorities executed 32-year-old citizen Ehsan Afreshteh, accusing him of spying for Israel. This was reported by Mizan Online, a publication affiliated with the Iranian judiciary.

According to official information, Afreshteh had ties to Mossad and underwent special training in Nepal. He was accused of passing classified information to the Israeli side.

It is noted that this incident occurred during a period of heightened tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran, marking the sixth execution on espionage charges since the recent conflicts began.

However, Norway-based human rights organizations are questioning these accusations. Their statements note that Afreshteh denied sharing classified information with Israeli intelligence, asserting that he only worked as a cybersecurity specialist. He stated that he had been warning certain independent websites about potential cyberattacks.

Another tragic aspect surrounding the incident is the report that Afreshteh's father died of a heart attack upon hearing the verdict, which has caused a significant public outcry.
