At least 33 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. According to the Civil Defense Agency run by Hamas, the strikes targeted houses, schools, and residential areas in Gaza City, Beit Lahiya, Nuseirat, and Khan Younis. Rescuers are working under difficult conditions, and many people remain trapped under the rubble.
The Israeli side said the attacks were carried out after the truce brokered by the United States was violated. According to Defense Minister Israel Katz, Hamas militants attacked Israeli soldiers and violated the agreement to return prisoners’ bodies. Hamas denied the accusations, stating that it remains committed to the truce.
US President Donald Trump said that “the ceasefire remains in place,” but also noted that “Israel has the right to respond if its soldiers were targeted.” In Washington, Vice President Vance said that minor clashes do not fully break the truce but warned that both sides should be cautious.
The latest tension escalated after it was discovered that the body in the coffin handed over to Israel by Hamas belonged to another prisoner. Israel called it a breach of the truce, while Hamas denied the accusations.
