The US President Donald Trump has categorically rejected the possibility of supplying long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. The White House leader announced this on November 2 in a conversation with journalists aboard the presidential plane Air Force One.
When asked about the possibility of delivering this type of weapon to Kyiv, Trump replied sharply: "No, actually no." The leader's position put an end to the debates that had intensified at the beginning of October.
At that time, according to CNN, the Pentagon had initially given approval for supplying these missiles. It was concluded that there were enough such weapons in American military reserves.
However, the decisive and final decision on the matter remained with the president. Trump's current statement is consistent with his previous views.
In earlier comments, he had emphasized that these missiles are of strategic importance for US defense capabilities. The president noted that he prefers not to send these weapons abroad, since they are necessary to ensure US security.
Thus, despite the preliminary conclusions of Defense Ministry military experts, the country's political leadership made its decision based on national security priorities. The name "Tomahawk missile" is derived from the name of the battle axe used by Native Americans in North America.
The earliest modifications of the missile used a unique system for its time – TERCOM (Terrain Contour Matching). This technology allowed the missile to fly at minimal altitude, scan the terrain, and compare it with a digital map stored in its memory.
This significantly complicated the task of air defense systems in targeting the missile. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
