In Saint Petersburg, the activities of foreign couriers were restricted

From November 3, a new ban came into force for a number of migrants working in the delivery sector in St. Petersburg. According to the publication "Arguments and Facts," major services such as "Samokat" and "Yandex Yeda" will no longer allow foreign citizens to go on shifts and accept orders.

That is, citizens of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova, and Ukraine, who worked through the application, will no longer be able to work on these platforms. However, this restriction does not apply to citizens of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) - they will still have the right to work without a patent.

This decision was first signed in August by St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov. According to it, the work of migrants in courier and taxi services in the city will be limited, and companies will be given three months to update their personnel policy and internal system.

The city administration emphasized that this measure was implemented to reduce clandestine employment, improve the quality and safety of services, and create additional jobs for the local population, especially young people and students.

According to experts, the new system will reduce the influx of migrants, but this will exacerbate the problem of the shortage of personnel. This is because the courier industry is a key part of the rapidly developing service network in St. Petersburg.

At the same time, local authorities say that this restriction is temporary and that the conditions may be reviewed after the successful implementation of the new work system.
