Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov expressed his reaction to complaints about power outages in the country. According to him, if major projects hadn't been implemented in the last five years, Kyrgyzstanis would have been left without electricity altogether today.
In his address, the President said:
"If I hadn't built factories, plants, schools, and kindergartens, there would be enough electricity now. But without such infrastructure, there will be no future," he said.
Japarov noted that the state purchases electricity from abroad from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Turkmenistan at 3.5 soums, but supplies it to the population at 1.37 soums. This, he emphasized, is a serious burden on the state budget, but the interests of citizens are a priority.
The head of state emphasized that there are clear plans to stabilize the energy situation in the country and promised that Kyrgyzstan will fully emerge from the electricity crisis by 2028.
