A new type of trick has appeared in some regions of Russia, particularly in the city of Rostov, aimed at recruiting labor migrants to the front. Our compatriot, working in the city, contacted Kun.uz and reported that during the patent registration process, migrants are being made to secretly sign documents related to a military contract. This indicates systematic pressure aimed at violating the rights of migrants.
Coercion Behind Closed Doors
Our compatriot stated that he encountered an absolutely unexpected situation when he went to register for patent renewal. "They put several documents in front of me. Among them were papers related in content to the call to war," he says. That particular paper required confirmation of acquaintance with the procedure and benefits of concluding a contract with the Russian Armed Forces.
After he refused to sign it, the employee who issued the documents called the head of the passport office. The head came and tried to apply pressure, saying: "Sign it, this is just familiarization, they demand it from us." When our compatriot did not agree, he was told that they could not process the registration, despite having a place of work and residence, and he was forced to leave.
Dangerous Haste
The biggest danger is that many migrants do not read the documents carefully, do not know Russian well, or, rushing to get their patent, sign without thinking. As a result, they unknowingly give consent to military service.
In reality, the exertion of pressure by migration centers is illegal because documents related to military service are not required for a patent. This is an open violation of migrant rights.
Our compatriots are advised in such situations to be patient, read every paper carefully, and refuse documents related to the war. If the pressure increases, the correct course of action is to immediately contact law enforcement agencies or the Consulate.
