In Afghanistan, the Taliban movement publicly executed a 13-year-old boy accused of killing more than ten relatives. The execution took place at the stadium of the Host province, and about 80,000 people attended it. This event was assessed by the UN as "cruel and inhuman."
A man named Mangal Fard and his two sons were charged with murdering 13 of the teenager's family members, including children and women. Relatives of the victims were offered to pardon the criminal, but they refused and demanded the murder of the criminal.
Fard's sons were also sentenced to death, but the sentence was not carried out as they were outside the country. After the lower, appellate, and supreme courts of Afghanistan confirmed the death sentence, Mangal Fard was brought to public responsibility and ratified by the country's supreme leader, Hibatullah Akhundzoda.
This mass execution is considered the eleventh existing execution carried out by the Taliban after they came to power. The UN emphasized that mass executions are contrary to international law and cruel.
