
Young police officer Jack Hibbert, who was shot in the head during the attack at Bondi Beach, has been released from hospital to go home. He was also injured in the shoulder and lost sight in one eye. He is now recovering at home under family supervision.
Hibbert was attending a Hanukkah celebration when two armed men attacked. Over 40 people were injured and 15 were killed. The injured officer tried to help as many people as he could.
The family called Jack’s return home a miracle and thanked the public for their support and the medical staff for their work. They emphasized the need for rest and psychological support for the officer.
Police are treating the attack as a terrorist act. The suspects were inspired by Islamic State ideology and targeted the holiday. One person has been arrested, and his father was killed by police at the scene.
