Due to heavy snowfall and unstable weather conditions in Turkey, educational institutions in 48 regions of the country have been temporarily closed. This was officially announced by local authorities.
According to reports, on January 2, schools were also suspended in some districts of the provinces of Usmania, Sakarya, Kocaeli, and Konya, as well as in the Shishli, Saryer, and Beykoz districts of Istanbul.
Heavy snowfall has a serious impact not only on the educational process, but also on the safety situation. Official avalanche warnings have been issued in Diyarbakir, Kastamonu, and several other areas.
One of the most severe cases was observed in the Artvin region. There, six shepherds were trapped under an avalanche. As a result of rescue operations, three people survived, two died. The search for another person has been temporarily suspended due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions.
