Uzbekistan and the UK shared experience in mahalla management

A delegation led by Javdat Inogomov, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan, paid a working visit to the UK. During the visit, a meeting was held with representatives of the local government council of Brentwood, Essex. The parties discussed issues of improving the self-governance system and exchanging experience.
At the meeting, detailed information was provided on the activities of the mahalla institute in Uzbekistan, particularly its role in solving population problems, social support, and working with youth and women. British experts highly appreciated the closeness of the mahalla to the people and its importance in ensuring social cohesion. In turn, the Uzbek representatives studied aspects of the British system such as institutional management, financial independence, and clear distribution of powers.
At the end of the dialogue, the parties agreed to continue mutual cooperation systematically. Plans were made to hold joint seminars and organize practical visits. This cooperation will serve to develop the local government system based on international standards and effectively protect public interests.
