Another large-scale prisoner exchange has taken place between Russia and Ukraine. The parties reached an agreement on a 300-for-300 formula and returned their military personnel to their homeland. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Russian Ministry of Defense also confirmed the process.
According to Zelenskyy, among those released, in addition to 300 military personnel, there are two civilians. Most of them had been held captive for a long time, some since 2022. Irina Krinina, coordinator of the "Nash vykhod" movement, noted that some of the returned soldiers were captured in 2024, and the rest in 2025.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the process took place with the mediation of the USA and the United Arab Emirates. Currently, the soldiers who returned to Russia are in Belarus. It is worth noting that this is not the only exchange between the two countries. A day earlier, on March 5, the parties also exchanged prisoners according to the 200-for-200 formula. The previous such process was observed in early February 2026, when 157 soldiers were returned to their homeland.
