Rising air temperatures reduce male birth rates

The global warming process observed on our planet is having a serious impact not only on nature but also on human demographics. New research results by Oxford University scientists show that rising air temperatures are reducing the birth rate of boys.
Researchers analyzed over 5 million births in 33 countries south of the Sahara and in India. The analysis showed that in periods when air temperatures exceeded 20 degrees Celsius, fewer boys were born compared to girls. Scientists believe that extreme heat in the early stages of pregnancy negatively affects fetal development.
Experts note that male fetuses are less resistant to high temperatures. For this reason, the risk of fetal loss increases in high-temperature regions, which in turn leads to an imbalance in birth statistics. This scientific conclusion once again confirmed how deeply climate change can affect human health and the demographics of future generations.
