A drone attack and fire occurred near Dubai International Airport on Monday, March 16. The UAE Civil Aviation Authority announced on social media that flights have been temporarily suspended, and the timing of their resumption is not yet clear.

According to the airport's press service, the drone incident affected one of the fuel tanks, but the fire was quickly brought under control. According to police, traffic on the roads and tunnels leading to the airport has been temporarily blocked, while Emirates has suspended flights to Dubai, and some routes have been redirected to Al Maktoum International Airport.

As Reuters recalled, this is the third such case at Dubai International Airport since the beginning of Iranian attacks in the Persian Gulf states. The military actions of the USA and Israel against Iran are causing chaos in international aviation.

The government reported that since the beginning of the war, the UAE's air defense system has intercepted more than 1,500 Iranian drones and nearly 300 missiles. During the escalating phase of the conflict, six people were killed, four of whom were civilians.

Since February 28, the US and Israel have continued airstrikes against Iran. In response, Iran is striking Israel and the Persian Gulf states. Tehran also blocked commercial shipping by mining and blocking the Strait of Hormuz, causing sharp price increases in the global oil market.

This incident is a serious warning to security and international air traffic in the region.
