Hungary has stopped gas supplies to Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said Budapest will gradually stop supplying gas to Ukraine until transit through the Druzhba oil pipeline is restored. He said the measure is meant to protect Hungary’s energy security and keep remaining reserves on the domestic market.
The decision signals a sharper phase in already strained energy relations between the two neighbors. Orban argued that Hungary must prioritize its own needs as uncertainty grows around regional energy routes and supply stability.
Political tensions between Budapest and Kyiv are also deepening. According to Orban, there are suspicions that Ukrainian special services may have monitored the phone of Hungary’s foreign minister. He said an investigation has been launched into the matter.
At the same time, Hungary is facing new trust issues inside the European Union. Politico reported that Brussels has excluded Budapest from some confidential talks because of concerns that sensitive information could be passed to Moscow. The latest developments add to pressure on Hungary as its disputes with both Ukraine and EU partners continue to widen.
