According to US intelligence, China plans to deliver a new generation of air defense systems to Iran in the coming weeks. This was reported by Reuters, citing three sources familiar with the intelligence reports.
According to the sources, Beijing is likely to send portable anti-aircraft missile systems through third countries in order to hide the origin of the weapons. At the same time, the US State Department, the White House and the Chinese Embassy in Washington have not yet officially commented on these reports.
Trump and Pakistani officials have also confirmed that China helped push Iran to an initial ceasefire agreement. However, Beijing has refrained from committing itself as a diplomatic guarantor. A spokesman for the Chinese embassy said that Beijing "will continue to play a constructive role as a responsible major power in easing tensions and ensuring stability."
