Tesla showcased cheaper electric vehicle options

Tesla, a renowned American electric vehicle manufacturer, unveiled updated, slightly cheaper versions of its two main models - the Model Y and Model 3 - on October 7th. This was reported by The New York Times.

According to reports, the new cars will be approximately $5,000 cheaper than previous models. Now the new Model Y starts from $40,000, and the Model 3 starts from $37,000.

The introduction of such a pricing policy, according to experts, is associated with Tesla's attempt to further strengthen competition in the electric vehicle market. That is, the company aims to equalize its products with gasoline cars in terms of price.

At the same time, some analysts have accused Tesla of sluggishness in developing new models. According to them, the company is lagging behind in implementing new technologies in response to competitors such as GM, BMW, and especially the Chinese company BYD. It's worth noting that BYD has now become the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, surpassing Tesla in sales volume.

It is noted that tax benefits will also apply to the new Model Y and Model 3, but they will be provided only to buyers with incomes below a certain threshold. For example, individuals with an annual income of more than $150,000 or families with a family income of more than $300,000 cannot use this benefit.

Experts say that the new models are expected to increase market demand and further strengthen Tesla's competition with gasoline cars.

As a reminder, according to the National Statistics Committee, as of April 1, 2025, more than 65.2 thousand electric vehicles were registered in Uzbekistan. Considering that this figure is increasing year by year, it is clear that there is a high interest in electric vehicles in the country.
