Uzbekistan’s car production to approach 1 million

In the revised draft of the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, sharply increasing passenger car production is listed as one of the country’s key goals. Reports citing The Gulf Observer say output is expected to reach nearly 1 million units by 2030.

According to the roadmap, growth will be phased: 460,000 units in 2026, 550,000 in 2027, and 700,000 in 2028. Output is said to exceed 800,000 in 2029 and approach almost 1 million by 2030.

These figures are not a “paper dream,” as the latest statistics also show the industry’s pace is accelerating. According to the National Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan produced 419,338 passenger cars in January–November 2025. The average monthly volume was 38,121 units. Most notably, the 11-month result already exceeds the 399,327 cars produced in all of 2024.

UzAuto Motors is reported to still hold the leading share in production. However, the fastest growth has been seen at BYD: the company increased output from 2,198 cars in the first 11 months of 2024 to 17,510 in the same period of 2025—several-fold growth in a year.

At the same time, brands such as Kia, Chery, and Haval are also said to have expanded their production volumes in Uzbekistan. National statistics include output figures for these brands as well.

The conclusion is this: if the plans move forward at the same pace in practice, by 2030 Uzbekistan’s auto production market will become not “a few plants,” but a full-scale major industry. Of course, reaching 1 million will hinge on localization, exports, the spare-parts supply chain, and workforce capacity. But the direction is clear: speed is increasing, competition is intensifying, and the market will become even more interesting.
