Xiaomi has collaborated with BMW experts to develop the YU7 GT racing electric vehicle, which is set to be released at the end of May 2026. The project, led by Rudolf Dittrich, who previously worked on the BMW M4 GT3, marks Xiaomi's first initiative from its European research center in Munich. Klaus-Dieter Groll, another former BMW expert, is responsible for the car's dynamic features. Xiaomi aims for the YU7 GT to embody German engineering excellence and gain the trust of drivers, building on its experience in the automotive market over the past five years.
Xiaomi founder Ley Szin has released the first image of the Xiaomi YU7 GT racing car, which is set to go on sale at the end of May 2026. This model is the first project developed by the company's European Research and Development Center established in Munich, Germany. Ixbt.com reports this.
World-class experts and renowned designers participated in the creation of the new electric vehicle. The project is led by Rudolf Dittrix, who previously worked on the BMW M4 GT3 racing car.
Additionally, another BMW veteran, Klaus-Diter Groll, has been appointed as the person responsible for developing the vehicle's dynamic characteristics.
Ley Szin noted that the Xiaomi YU7 GT is tuned in a German style and is expected to earn the trust of drivers just like the best European cars. Groll has prior experience working on BMW's 3 and 4 Series, as well as popular models such as the X5, X6, and X7.
For reference, it has been five years since Xiaomi began automobile production. Over the past two years, the company has managed to deliver a total of more than 650,000 units of the SU7 and YU7 models to the market.
