American pop star Miley Cyrus suffered a serious medical emergency on stage during her New Year's Eve concert in 2023. She said that during a duet with the famous Dolly Parton, an ovarian cyst ruptured and she needed emergency treatment.

“I needed urgent medical attention, but we continued to perform anyway,” Miley recalled in an interview with Zane Lowe's podcast.

The singer, who was seriously worried about her health, is considering leaving show business. When she told famous NBC producer Lorne Michaels about this, Lorne replied to her: “You know how many people are sitting here and telling me they want to quit music… Each of them has their own painful history.”

After that, Miley was advised to take a 6-month break to recover and she will be away from the stage for a while. Cyrus is currently working on a new album, but she is not yet ready to return to live performances.

“I have a polyp on my vocal cords. Because of this, it is very difficult for me to give a live concert. It is not only a physical test, but also a mental one,” Miley said.
