The famous Turkish TV series — “Black Love” (Kara Sevda), which has millions of fans around the world, is now getting its own interpretation in Russia. It has been officially announced that a new remake is being produced by Vyacheslav Dusmukhametov and video streaming service Okko, according to Peopletalk.
Adapting the hit series to Russian cinema is generating significant interest not only within Russia but across the CIS countries. After all, the original “Black Love” series is also among the beloved Turkish dramas watched in Uzbekistan.
At the heart of the story is a love between two individuals from completely opposing worlds — Kemal, the son of a simple barber, and Nihan, the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Their love is tested by various social and personal obstacles, challenging the feelings in their hearts.
Representatives of Norm Production emphasize that the remake maintains respect for the original work: the drama is preserved, and it has been infused with a modern spirit.
Young and promising actors have been cast in the Russian-language version’s lead roles:
Kemal — Fyodor Gamaleya,
Nihan — Viktoriya Serikova.
The directorial responsibility is assigned to Sakhad Dursunov, and the showrunner is experienced screenwriter Darya Shelyakina.
Rumors about a Russian version of “Black Love” began circulating in Russia earlier this year. In this context, Russian media conducted a poll among viewers: who should play the main characters in the Russian version of “Black Love”?
This kind of localization of successful series signifies not only attracting a new audience but also blending different cultures through dramaturgy. In Uzbekistan, this news will undoubtedly be met with interest as well.
