Disney is once again taking audiences back to prehistoric times. The first teaser for the sixth installment of the famous animated series "Ice Age" has been released. The film is titled "Ice Age: Boiling Point" and its premiere is scheduled for February 5, 2027.
This new project will be the first full-length film after the fifth part, which was released in 2016. The events will again take place 20,000 years ago, during the Ice Age. Viewers will be able to meet their favorite characters as well as get to know new ones.
Disney announced plans to revive the franchise back in 2022, but active development of the project began only recently. The film is now being produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. This is because after the closure of "Blue Sky Studios" in 2021, the responsibility for developing the brand passed to Disney.
The new movie will be the first installment created entirely under Disney’s wing, which may bring changes in visual style and atmosphere. Although the teaser did not reveal plot details, the title suggests that global changes and dramatic twists in the story are likely to come.
"Ice Age" remains one of the most successful animated projects in history. The previous installments have grossed more than $3 billion worldwide. Social media reactions show that fans have missed Sid, Manny, Diego, and of course, the ever-funny squirrel.
It has also been confirmed that Ray Romano (Manny), John Leguizamo (Sid), Queen Latifah (Ellie), Denis Leary (Diego), and Simon Pegg (Buck) will return to their roles.
