Minecraft became the best-selling game in history

Minecraft became the best-selling video game of all time. It sold over 350 million copies, according to Guiness Worrld Records.

Minecraft began its life in May 2009 as a free alpha version, and in 2011 the official version of the game was released, which sold over 300 million copies, becoming the first video game to achieve this result. The film of the same name became Warner Bros.'s highest-grossing film in the world in the first half of 2025, grossing over $100 million. The film also became the third most successful summer pirate film in Russia.

Warner Bros. and Legendary are developing the Minecraft franchise. The untitled sequel to the film "Minecraft" will be released in theaters on July 23, 2027. Minecraft amazed studio insiders, who, although they knew they had achieved good results, had no idea that the game would raise almost $1 billion or become a viral phenomenon among teenagers. The original film stars Jack Black, Sebastian Hansen, Emma Myers, Daniel Brooks, and Jennifer Coolidge.

As a reminder, "Minecraft in Cinema" tells the story of four lovers who have fallen into the virtual world and are now desperately trying to return to the real world. According to preliminary information, Jack Black, who played Steve, will return in the second film. In the film "Minecraft in Cinema," Jason Momoa, Daniel Brooks, Emma Myers, Sebastian Hansen, and Jennifer Coolidge also starred, but their participation in the sequel has not yet been confirmed.
