Michelangelo's forgotten drawing was valued at 23 million!

At Christie's auction in New York City, a previously unknown painting belonging to the great Italian artist Michelangelo was sold for $23 million. This amount turned out to be almost 10 times higher than what was determined.

Experts estimated the initial cost of the project to be around $2 million. However, at the "Works of Old Masters" auction held on February 5, the work sold for an unprecedented price.

The drawing was created by Michelangelo 500 years ago and was regarded as an etude for the leg of the Libyan Civila (a prophetic woman), drawn during the decoration of the ceiling of the Vatican's Sistine Chapel.

The most interesting thing is that this gem was found by chance. The owner of the painting simply sent it to Christie's for evaluation and was completely unaware of its true value. It turned out that the drawing was inherited from her grandmother, and the painting had been kept in the family since the 18th century.

Christie's representative Andrew Fletcher called this event one of the most exciting and unforgettable events of his career.
