The UK-based company Remitly conducted an international politeness survey with the participation of more than 4,600 respondents from 26 countries. In it, participants tried to identify the most polite nations in the world based on their personal experiences.
According to the results of the study, Japan took first place with 35.15% of the vote. At the same time, Canada and the United Kingdom also entered the top three. The most polite countries also included China, Germany, the Philippines, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and South Africa.
An interesting fact is that people's self-assessment and the assessment of others often do not coincide. For example, residents of Brazil and Chile considered themselves the most polite, giving an average score of 9.46, while Japan, which took first place, rated itself low.
The authors of the study noted that people often rate themselves highly, despite differences in external perception. At the same time, international rankings also reflect objective assessments of other nations.
