Largest secret weapons cache discovered underground in Istanbul

Istanbul police have uncovered a massive underground weapons cache hidden within a water reservoir in the city's Pendik district. Following extensive drone surveillance, authorities seized thousands of illegal firearm components, including over 3,000 pistol parts and nearly 1,900 slide mechanisms intended for illicit assembly. Four suspects were arrested in connection with the operation, which officials describe as one of the largest single seizures of its kind in Turkey’s history.
A large-scale secret weapons cache has been uncovered in Istanbul, Turkey. It is reported that the hidden site was identified in an underground water reservoir area in the Pendik district. This was reported by the Hürriyet publication.
According to the information, the location of the warehouse was identified during a special surveillance process conducted by the Istanbul police, specifically by monitoring criminal activities using drones. Subsequently, an operational search was conducted in the area.
During the search, thousands of spare parts used in weapons manufacturing were seized. In particular, 3,092 pistol parts, 1,869 slide mechanisms, and many other various weapon components were identified. Experts suspect that these parts were intended for illegal weapons assembly.
Four suspects involved in these activities were detained during the operation. Investigative proceedings against them are currently underway.
According to officials, this discovery is considered one of the largest secret weapons caches identified at one time within the framework of such raids in Turkey. The incident demonstrates the further intensification of the fight against illegal arms trafficking in the country.
