Sprinkler irrigation using Austrian technology will be introduced in Khorezm: water will be saved by 40 percent

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced during a meeting in the Khorezm region that an important agreement had been reached with the famous Austrian company Bauer on the large-scale introduction of sprinkler irrigation technology.

According to him, as a result of the initial trial implementation of this modern technology on 2.5 thousand hectares of land by 24 farmers in our country, water consumption was reduced by 40 percent, the use of mineral fertilizers by 35 percent, and manual labor by 90 percent. In addition, an average increase in productivity was observed by 25 percent.

After this pilot project fully proved its effectiveness, it is now planned to widely introduce this technology in Khorezm on a large scale - on 7.5 thousand hectares of land.

Within the framework of this project, farmers will be supplied with modern sprinkler irrigation equipment worth a total of 15 million euros. These devices will be leased in the national currency for a period of 10 years at a very favorable interest rate of 2.5% per annum.

The Austrian side also provides a 10-year guarantee for its high-quality equipment. At the same time, the company's experts will organize free training courses for local farmers and specialists to properly use this equipment.

During the meeting, the President instructed officials to implement the project worth 2 million euros on an area of 1.5 thousand hectares this year as a pilot project, and by 2025 this figure will be increased to 7.5 thousand hectares.

According to experts, this technology will not only save water and mineral fertilizers, but also maintain soil fertility and further increase productivity. This will significantly increase the economic efficiency of farms in the region, save natural resources and have a positive impact on environmental protection.
