Solar and wind power generation has increased sharply

The share of renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan is growing. As a result of large-scale projects being implemented in the energy sector, the volume of electricity generated by solar and wind power plants is significantly increasing.
According to the Ministry of Energy, in February 2026, electricity generated by solar and wind power plants in the country increased by 203 percent compared to the same period last year. This shows that the reforms being carried out in the industry and the commissioning of new capacities are yielding results.
According to official data, in February of this year, large-capacity solar photovoltaic stations generated 371 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. At the same time, wind farms generated 444 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. As a result, the total production volume for two sources amounted to 815 million kilowatt-hours.
This figure is 413 million kilowatt-hours more than in the same period last year. Experts attribute this growth to the commissioning of new power plants, the expansion of existing capacities, and increased attention to the use of renewable energy sources.

For comparison, in February 2025, a total of 401 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated by solar and wind power plants in the country. Of this volume, solar photovoltaic power plants accounted for 265 million kilowatt-hours, and wind power plants - 136 million kilowatt-hours.
According to experts, such high growth indicators demonstrate the effectiveness of the "green energy" development strategy being implemented in Uzbekistan. The use of solar and wind energy not only stabilizes the electricity supply, but also serves to reduce harmful emissions into the environment.
In the future, a number of large solar and wind power plants are planned to be commissioned in the country. This is expected to further increase the share of renewable energy sources in the national energy system.
