Chinese scientists have found that people who eat breakfast after nine in the morning are 28 percent more likely to experience symptoms of depression. The results of the study were published in The Journal of Affective Disorders.
Researchers from the First Clinical Hospital of Xi'an University studied the diets of nearly 24,000 adults for 11 years and tracked changes in their health. The scientists recorded whether the participants regularly ate breakfast in the morning, as well as what time of day they ate their first meal.
Studies have shown that men and women who eat breakfast after 9 a.m. are almost a third more likely to have poor mood and mental health problems than those who finish their breakfast before 8 a.m. Skipping breakfast altogether has been shown to have the same negative effects.
Delaying or skipping breakfast can lead to sleep problems, reduced physical activity, and a loss of motivation, scientists say. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
