A favorite drink of many, carbonated sweet waters can pose a significant threat to the body. This was reported by the famous Russian nutritionist Elena Solomatina, writes the Moscow 24 edition.
According to her, sweet carbonated drinks contain orthophosphoric acid, which removes calcium from the body. This leads to brittle bones. This is especially dangerous for the elderly and growing children.
The specialist also said that the large amount of sugar in carbonated water can also negatively affect the nervous system. In such cases, a person develops hyperglycemia - nervousness, rapid fatigue, and anxiety. As a result, the brain begins to demand even more sugar.
“When the body cannot fully utilize the energy provided by sugar, this energy is converted into fat. Cells begin to refuse to accept excess sugar, and as a result, the amount of sugar in the blood increases. This damages the inner walls of blood vessels, and in the damaged areas, harmful cholesterol accumulates, causing atherosclerosis and blood clots,” says Solomatina.
She notes that regular consumption of carbonated drinks has a negative effect on the intestinal microflora - the microbiome, weakens the body's natural defense system and reduces immunity.
In order to prevent such health risks, the specialist recommends replacing carbonated sweet drinks with clean drinking water. Especially, special attention should be paid to water in the daily diet of children and the elderly.
