According to Microsoft’s AI chief Mustafa Suleyman, cases of so-called “AI psychosis” are increasing among people. This was reported by Pravilamag.
He stated that people are becoming excessively fascinated with artificial intelligence and developing an unhealthy attachment to it. In such situations, individuals may believe that AI is conscious or even in a romantic relationship with them. Some even begin to experience various hallucinations.
Suleyman emphasized that this danger is not limited to those prone to mental illness, but can also be observed in mentally stable individuals. According to him, “AI psychosis” is not officially recognized as a medical term, but the phrase is increasingly used to describe cases when people, while communicating with chatbots like ChatGPT or Grok, lose touch with reality.
Medical imaging specialist Dr. Susan Shelmerdin suggested that in the coming years, doctors will begin asking patients how often they use artificial intelligence, placing this question alongside smoking and drinking habits.
At the same time, some users complain that ChatGPT no longer wants to be their “friend” and has ended romantic interactions.
