Sergey Lavrov arrived in Samarkand on an official visit: what issues will be discussed?

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Samarkand on an official visit. This was reported by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

Negotiations and dialogues are expected to be held as part of the visit between the heads of the foreign policy departments of the two countries. The meetings will discuss the most important issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia.

According to Kommersant, Sergey Lavrov will also meet with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the visit.

“The main focus of the talks between the parties will be on further deepening foreign policy cooperation in the current complex geopolitical situation in the world,” the report says.

The issues of implementing the agreements reached during the state visit of the two heads of state, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin, in May 2024, and developing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia will also be discussed.
