According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the past two years no deaths have been recorded among suspects during investigative procedures in Uzbekistan. This was announced by Deputy Minister Ramazon Ashrapov.
He stated that in 2024–2025 such cases were not observed. The last incident occurred in 2023 in the Yukorichirchiq district, when a citizen of Kazakhstan died of a heart attack during questioning.
“This incident was recorded on surveillance cameras. Expert conclusions and witness testimonies confirmed there were no illegal actions by law enforcement officers. The Prosecutor’s Office also found no criminal elements,” Ashrapov noted.
He emphasized that today all interrogation rooms in the country are equipped with video cameras. The procedure is strictly regulated by order No. 101 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs — interrogations can only be conducted in specially equipped rooms.
“These measures protect not only citizens, but also officers from unfounded accusations. During my service, there have been no deaths in either the internal affairs bodies or investigation departments,” the Deputy Minister said.
