An event that caused a great political and legal sensation occurred in the city of Namangan. According to the State Security Service (SSS), the city mayor and the head of a local shoe manufacturing company are suspected of corruption, and a criminal case has been initiated against them.
According to the investigation, the governor and the head of the LLC conspired and demanded 60 thousand US dollars from a citizen who wanted to engage in entrepreneurial activity. They promised the citizen the right to demolish old residential buildings located on 35 sotkas of land in the city center, to build a multi-story building in its place, and to provide financing.
During an operational event conducted by the State Security Service, the head of this LLC was first detained. He was detained with material evidence while receiving the requested amount of money.
After that, at the next stage of the event, the mayor was also exposed. When he tried to receive $60,000 from the head of the LLC through his trusted person - the head of the khokimiyat office, his illegal actions were stopped.
Currently, the mayor has been deprived of his parliamentary immunity. He was charged under Article 210, Part 3, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code. Also, a criminal case was opened against the head of the office and the head of the LLC on the basis of relevant articles.
According to official data, a preventive measure in the form of detention was applied to the mayor. Currently, the investigation is ongoing, and a legal assessment will be given to other illegal actions of the khokim.
