The shores of the Tashkent Sea have once again become a place of cleanliness and goodwill. During the environmental event held yesterday, more than 300 kilograms of waste were collected, according to the Agency for Waste Management and the Development of a Circular Economy.
This time, over 50 employees of the Asian Development Bank actively participated in the plogging event, showing initiative in protecting the environment. They did not limit themselves to collecting litter along the shore — participants also discussed environmental awareness, responsibility, and ecological culture.
Plogging is a movement that combines sport and ecology, where participants pick up litter while jogging or walking. This time, the event on the shores of the Tashkent Sea not only helped clean the area but also contributed to raising public environmental awareness.
The ADB Country Director for Uzbekistan, Ms. Kanokpan Lao-Araya, emphasized that such initiatives align with the nation’s “green future” vision:
“Caring for the environment is not a large program or a one-time action, but a daily responsibility. We are witnessing how environmental activities in Uzbekistan are gaining momentum, and this brings great joy. Through today’s plogging, we are contributing to a cleaner and healthier planet,” she said.
Participants of the event also highlighted the importance of this initiative, noting that “each piece of waste collected is a step toward protecting nature.” They expressed confidence that even small ecological actions can lead to significant changes.
For reference: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) unites 69 member countries and has been cooperating with Uzbekistan since 1996. To date, 117 joint projects have been implemented with a total investment amounting to 14.6 billion US dollars. All ADB-supported projects prioritize environmental sustainability, gender equality, and the principles of a “green economy.”
In addition, practical workshops and training sessions for industry specialists were held within the framework of the eco-event. The initiative was not only about cleaning the shoreline but also about promoting teamwork, responsibility, and environmental awareness.
According to participants, such initiatives are aimed not only at preserving natural areas like the Tashkent Sea but also at creating a healthy environment for future generations. Therefore, it is expected that such events will become regular.
Thus, this good-hearted event, in which 300 kilograms of waste were collected, became not just a cleanup but a reminder of human responsibility toward nature.
