Number of pensioners in Uzbekistan exceeds 4.2 million

The number of pensioners in Uzbekistan continues to grow every year. According to the data from the Off-Budget Pension Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as of October 1, 2025, a total of 4.2418 million citizens in the country receive pensions. This figure is slightly higher compared to the previous year.

The majority of pensioners receive old-age pensions — their number stands at 3.5141 million people. In addition, 482.1 thousand citizens receive disability pensions, while 245.6 thousand receive survivor’s pensions.

In regional terms, the highest number of pensioners is recorded in Fergana, Samarkand, and Andijan regions. Specifically, there are 500.8 thousand in Fergana, 451.6 thousand in Samarkand, and 399 thousand in Andijan.

Conversely, the lowest number of pensioners lives in Syrdarya, Navoi, and Jizzakh regions. There are 108.9 thousand in Syrdarya, 142.1 thousand in Navoi, and 145.2 thousand in Jizzakh.

According to experts, population aging and longer work experience will lead to a further increase in the number of pensioners in the coming years. Therefore, improving and ensuring the stability of the pension system remains an important issue.
